Our mission

To become an internationally reputed center for research in Tomato Functional Genomics. RTGR is working on different aspects of biology of tomato using an integrative biology approach to combine genomics, proteomics and metabolomics with tomato phenome to regulate the nutritional and other desirable traits of tomato.

The Repository of Tomato Genomics Resources focus is on:

1. Isolate and characterize tomato mutants using TILLING and other techniques such as genome editing and whole genome sequencing (WGS). To characterize mutants using tools from metabolomics, proteomics and functional genomics and interlink these omics using an integrated network approach.

2. To maintain and provide the tomato genomic resources to Scientists, Ag-Biotech Industry in India under IPR sharing basis.

3. To identify the tomato germplasm enriched in folate and carotenoids and undertake reverse genetic manipulation of the genes controlling the flux into folate, lycopene and β-carotene metabolic pathways.
